    General Planting Time

The best time to plant clover in the spring is from mid-April to mid-May to coincide with spring rains. Clover needs about 30 inches of rain, ideally at least 45 inches, and from four to six hours of sunlight daily. If you are able to irrigate, seed clover in late summer to early autumn.

Hello. You might want to contact your local local master gardeners at the cooperative extension. I know in our area our office has planting calendars with the dates indicated for appropriate planting timing. Master gardeners are a volunteer group I know your local situation quite well and would be the best resource to guide you.

These extension offices are manned by volunteer master gardeners on site there waiting to answer the communities questions that know your local situation quite well.

Master gardeners are required to volunteer back designated hours ( plus continuing education) each year to maintain MG certification -this community outreach and education is their goal.

When we lived in TN we could plant such as clover any time of the year except Dec. and Jan. By end of Feb we started planting again, even cabbages and potatoes, so for sure clover could grow.
