How can I build overhead storage for a queen-size bed?

Do you mean as in shelves and the such? Storage above the headboard? Or would something like a bench at the foot of the bed with storage in the seat?

I have storage over my bed and I love it. We built a sturdy shelf over the bed and lined it with a row of fabric cubes. I love it.
