They say that cacti are low maintenance and easy to grow, but for some of us no matter what we do, they always seem to die. So if you suffer from that dreaded brown thumb then you're going to love these DIY kill-proof Cacti.
Not only are they indestructible, they're also quick and easy to make. All you need is a few empty tin cans, scrap pieces of wood that are at least 4 cm (1.5″) thick, craft paint, jigsaw and sandpaper
Wash and remove any labels from the tin cans and place them on your piece of wood, making sure to line the bottom of the can up with the edge of the wood. Draw a few cacti shapes using the size of the tin cans as a guide.
Cut the shapes out with a jigsaw and sand to remove any rough edges.
Paint the cacti shapes in shades of green.
Distress the paint lightly using sandpaper and add some spiky bits with jewelry wire. I added a whole bunch of spikes to two of the cacti and a wire flower to the third.
If you don't want to use jewelry wire, you can paint the spikes on instead icon Add some gravel or concrete to the tin cans and plant the cacti.
And your easy, peasy kill-proof cacti are ready.
These ones will be going down to our holiday home where I know they'll always look good, even when we're not there to look after them icon Would you make a few for yourself?

These will brighten up my front porch! I usually use live plants, but they don't like the porch, so always having to move them out to the bed area. I can't wait to get to this project!! Thanks for posting

If the 'spikes' were made a little longer, the cacti could be used for ring or earring holders.🌵
