Redecorating the room to suit children, teens, or adults?

Please post a picture of the room so that we can see what you are starting with, and what type of space you have to work with.

It's for 2 adults. I am traveling with a midway company for the next year. I work from 9 am to 11PM on a penny budget. I feel frazzled and cooped when I get in from work and have tried and tried to rearrange and it all ends up chaos. I am at a loss as to how i can make this space practicable and stress free. Help if you can.

Cover the walls with Masonite, then paint. It will look like drywall. Make sure you tape and mud seams

It's for 2 adults. I live here now on the road with an midway company. I need to turn this small bunk room into a practicable living space. I am at a loss as to what I can do.

Ah yes, I see from your photos. You have unfinished surfaces, wires and clothes all over and that is unsettling. I would probably start by adjusting your clothing storage. If you put clothes in boxes and not hang them (except for coats) that will free up your visual space. I use fabric cubes and set them on a shelf. You could place a shelf just over head. If you can paint the walls, that will also help your visual space a little.

With a limited budget it won't be easy but I believe as long as it's okay with the person that it belongs to it can be made better! Go to salvage stores or ministries and see if you can get something to cover the walls or paint. Laura has some good ideas...take items people are willing to give you as long as they are usable just don't gather items that are not worthy of using. Take it slow and maybe work on one little area at a time. Good luck....send a pic when you finish. Yard sales are also great places to get a few things but usually this time of year there aren't too many...too cold! Merry Christmas!

Yes the clothes have been a issue...thank you for the ideas. After reviewing many pics and long hours of various reviews I was feeling overwhelmed.. yet just knowing i have others that can advise while i reconstruct this mess helps... thanks!! Today.,I am feeling optimistic and will tackle this problem starting tonight after work. Stay tuned cause I may have questions and I will send pictorial updates soon. Thanks again!!

Think clothing is the biggest problem. Sort out what isn't used and give to a charity. Is there room under the beds for some under-bed storage boxes for seasonal, not often used clothing? What about bunk beds? Bunk beds would free up room for a tall chest of drawers. Room for a board with hooks for hanging on a wall? There are neat hangers for ties - can put about 20 of them on it while using minimum space. Good luck.

Sounds like you might need some insulation. I'd get the rigid foam type - fibreglass is useless if it gets damp.
