How about using a drop cloth to recover it? Here’s a tutorial! https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.pinterest.com/amp/pin/255579347582970161/

You could buy a slip cover for it

You could do something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpC5Hk_xgWI

It uses rope and hot glue. This particular tutorial uses a Home Depot bucket, but I bet the same technique would work for your ottoman!

You can glue rope or cover with material and fasten in place with studded head upholstery tacks.

If it is a simple shape, you could recover it yourself in a remnant of a new vinyl. It would be the same technique as upholstering a simple dining room chair.

I would also make a cat scratching post with cat nip in it, to keep them occupied with that.

How large is the ottoman? What shape is it? What room is it in? How formal or informal is your decorating style. I would avoid, rope covering as too nautical and too easy to misdo. If you can sew it would be an easy job to make a slipcover. Can you sew?

it is round, not formal at all. no decorating style.it cant be sewn. thats why i wanted to use rope. the cats could use it as a scratching area

Agree with Emily, I would add rope will only invite the cats to make it their personal scratching post. You could make a slipcover and attach underneath with staples or upholstery tacks. I like the mongolian faux fur ottomans, or any upholstry fabric will work.... you might even pick up a remnant at the local thrift store. I've even made covers with thrift store fuzzy bathrobes for my cat...... she loved that and slept on it for 15 years, and yes I washed it frequently by sliding the cover off and throwing in the wash machine.

    Hello Linda,

You could always use Contact! or Fabric using Mod Podge to stick! You could also strip it and paint it too.........Best wishes
