How do I make over my particle board kitchen cabinets?

therefore, clean and seal with an oil based primer.

then fill with Bondo and sand.

Re-prime,

then paint with a plastic laminate painting system.

Agree with Lifestyle Homes that the difficulty and cost of the project ( materials, tools, and time) will depend on the extent to which the particle board is worn down, or already disintegrated.

It would be much faster, and far less work to purchase used 'almost new' cupboard doors. Do you have a Habitat for Humanity/Restore where you live?

Are they covered with a plastic that is peeling off, or paint is peeling. If it is paint peeling, then rub them down with sandpaper till smooth or if you have holes or large areas that require repair,use Pollyfilla or Spackle to fill and then rub down smooth when dry. Prime, Undercoat and then Top coat with satin or eggshell finish.

You could add beadboard to the doors. It is less than $20 for a sheet that is 4' x 8'. You can get a bunch of door out of that. Cut them about an inch smaller than the doors and add plastic quarter round or similar trim. (already painted white and very light weight and you can glue them on with Loctite construction adhesive) . It will give your cabinets a beautiful facelift for little money and cover the particle board. The beadboard is also lightweight and thin and can be glued on with Loctite as well.
