How can I upholster the seat of this chair?

I was Preparing a chair seat to reupholster. The bottom has foam rubber under a wood form, all held down with metal braces. Any thoughts on A: removing braces and wood form and replace foam rubber, or (B) leave the items intact, remove just the existing fabric and drape new fabric? I’m able to remove the screws, but neither the braces nor the wood move.Thanks!

If the foam doesn't need to be replaced you don't need to do it! Often times I reupholster and just keep the foam if it is good. You can just drape the new fabric and reupholster it. If you have to get to the foam and you have removed the screws and it doesn't budge, it might be held in another way as well which you will have to look for. I'm sorry I can't help you more, I can't really tell what I am looking at there. Do you have to get that middle section out so that you can reupholster it? I agree with K. Rupp, in so many words, it if's not broke, don't fix it. All you need to do is keep it simple and replace the fabric as you set out to do.
You can use the previous cover as your template (pattern) for the new cover. Best to you.
Just leave the foam and wood in place. Those brackets may be screwed under the upholstered seat or just inserted under it. I assume they're Z shaped. Once you remove the fabric and padding you'll see how they're attached.
If the foam is compressed or you are worried about germs, steam it. I usually find this takes care of many issues, unless it is too brittle and starting to crumble.
Hi Jill, I would leave the piece intact, add new foam on top of the wood and recover from there!! then you won;t have to take it apart all the way.
Leave the foam, maybe just added another thin layer to smooth out the finish. Then add new fabric.
