What kind of fabric is your sofa?
If it is a fabric sofa, I would steam clean it if possible. If it is leather, I would use leather wipes to condition and clean. Here is detailed cleaning instructions https://www.livingspaces.com/inspiration/ideas-advice/how-tos/how-to-clean-a-fabric-sofa
Here are a couple sites with different methods depending on the type of fabric you have.

We usually vacuum it and then my husband rents one of those carpet shampooers with the attachment from the grocery store (or Walmart) and uses the nozzle attachment and some Spot Gone (for stubborn spots) and cleans both of our couches once a year! They are like new! We have a microfiber couch.
For fabric, I use an upholstery attachment on my rug shampoo/steamer. For microfiber or vinyl, first I go over it with a damp microfiber cloth.
Yes, what kind of fabric is it and what are the stains?
For example a microfiber sofa is typically polyester and it is easier to clean than olefin or polypropylene (same family).
The olefin family of fibers loves oil based stains- like a dropped potato chip or piece of popcorn and the oil will wick out farther and farther, holding dirt as it grows. That kind of fabric is going to require a degreasing clear soap.
Hydrogen peroxide won’t do a thing for oil-based stains.
