How can I repair metal windchimes?
I think they are solid stainless steel. I don't remember what or how they were originally strung. Ihere is a small hole at top of each tube with little hanger attached. Iv'e tried stringing the hanger to thin strands of wire but they clunk, not tinkle. Can they be fixed so they will tinkle?

Use fishing line.
Check your spacing and play with it a bit. I know the closer they are together, the louder the sound produced. My mother's got tangled and they sounded awful when they were so close together. Very much a clunk.
Waxed dental floss works well. It also lasts a long time if the chimes are outside.

Here is one more for you to check, good luck
Rosie: I agree about the spacing... and make sure they are not too close to the top round rim... so that they hang down a bit!
Thanks so much. Seems like there's several things to take into account.
