This is for black washing a dining set, but would work for a desk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfeB7auoYAo
Something like this?
Hi! It is the same process as a whitewash only you use black. :) Pick your favorite black chalk based or mineral based paint. Have a small bowl of water and add a small amount of paint to your brush then dip your brush bristles into the water. Brush this on your furniture and wipe off the excess with a shop towel. :)
Hope this is helpful. How to blackwash wood.
I did a bookcase many years ago.... the key was using a fine brass wire brush and sandpaper to get the surface rough enough to make the wood come through the paint when you wipe it off.... otherwise its the same as whitewashing. My project was a teak bookcase to match the rest of my office.
Thank you! I can't wait to try it.

I would use the same technique as white washing. Slightly dampen your brush with black paint, dab some off, and then apply.
I think this will help. https://salvagedinspirations.com/how-to-create-a-black-wash-paint-finish-painted-nightstands/
