What color should I paint this wood project?

I am really curious, I am soon to be an interior designer, I am actually not that good with colors for outdoor, only inside.
My house is light blue and little bit of white.
Should I add something opposite of the color to make it noticeable or should I add something darker? I was afraid if I do white, you would totally see dirt on it when I watered it. Any Suggestions? I am excited to hear from you!

I have an interior design degree too! Well, if you want the planter to "pop", I would suggest you go with an opposite color...something orange. Obviously, if you want the planter to blend in, you could go with the light blue of the house, or with a different shade of blue (maybe darker to avoid seeing the dirt). Personally, I think the orange would give it a little spunk and curb appeal.

Really?! Thank you!! I have questions for you, as an interior designer! Where can I contact you? Maybe orange would be a good color! If I can find some cheaper one! Or whatever paint my dad have. We have a lot of paint left over. haha! I seriously love your advice! Thank you! :)

I think the natural beauty of the wood is the way to go- I am not a designer by any means... I just love things in their natural state.

It is fun! I was thinking the same thing for that one.. let the wood naturally is the way to go but I just finished painting the other one. Well, for some reason, I just added the dirt, and I didn't have time to go buy some plants for it, then, I noticed it, Shamrocks are growing in it! I was like, Oh awesome! I love shamrocks! I really do! So, I water it everyday, and it kept growing it bigger! :D

I agree with Natural....let the flowers be the color that pops. I am a retired intrior designer, there are so many other items such as patio chairs and pots that can bring in the colors of the flowers you plant in it. If you put paint on it....watering will make the paint bubble and peel.

Really? I didn't know that, that is also true! It kills the plant. I might as well leave it. You should check out bigger one I painted that will become a water fountain/pond. :)

I agreee that it should be left natural. That blotched look of the wood would also help hide the dirt. Some things just do not need to be painted.

I would use a pale grey wash so the grain shows thru then seal it with clear varnish
