Are indoor palm trees, fig leaf trees or any tree outdated?
They aren't outdated if you like them!
Not if they are good imitation of the real thing. It should be real looking and dusted regularly.
I think a big ficus looks fantastic in the right spot!
Not really! Depends on what you like :)
Plants really don't ever become out of date in my opinion. Some become more popular at times, based on what decorators are doing at the time. Right now the "fig tree" seems to be in the spotlight but it truly depends on what you like and what will do well in your home environment. I have killed so many ficus trees, I've given up on trying to have them in my house. Live ones are always preferred! :)
I hope plants do not go out of date or style....love live indoor plants. Right now I have too many but love all of them. My favorites are Pothos, Palms, Boston ferns and Maidenhair ferns. Had a ficus tree years ago but it got too big and I gave it away.
Well, I agree with others - indoor plants and trees never go out of style. Anyone that may have told you that is either not fond of plants or is completely misguided. Pick up ANY interior design book or magazine - there are always plants displayed, whether you notice them or not. When choosing a tree (or any indoor plant for that matter), one must consider what type of tree is suitable for the location in which you wish to place it or it will not thrive. If you are not sure on how to choose, take photos and head on over to a proper nursery, even if just for assistance. My big box home improvement centers are staffed by hourly workers that know next to nothing about plants and most are unwilling to learn. Most reputable nurseries have Master Gardeners on staff and are always will to assist.
Thank you so very much!!!!! I totally agree with you, I’ve always loved indoor trees and have always had at least one. I want to add more but wasn’t sure if it would be overkill. I often go to model homes to get decor ideas and noticed that not many use indoor trees. Thank you again 💕 🌳
Don't forget staging a model home for sale is a different story. Not every builder wants the extra added expense of a plant service to maintain live plants in model homes, as typically it takes several months to sell the entire tract. Plus their sales staff is there to sell homes, not tend to plants. Hence very few plants, faux plants or none at all.
Hi Linnea: Whatever you like is not out of date. Your house, your rules:) Do what you like and make yourself happy in your home. I love trees in the house :)
not at all!
Tree don't become dated, you select a tree based on the amount of light required/tolerated and your style preferences. I have a huge ficus in one corner of my living room.
I have also had over many decades, rubber trees, elephant philodendrons, dracenas. Some plants are poisnous to pets and kids so check before you buy.
