How can I persuade my DIL not to use spray cans to paint her two sofa?
I can imagine this being a disaster - they are beautiful microsuede settees, but the colour, which was showing
as blue on their monitor, turned out to be lilac.
She is determined to use spray cans - totally the wrong thing? I don't really want to interfere and maybe alienate her.
It will take many, many, cans as well, as they a huge chesterfield type couches.
Any suggestions?

Thank you for that Cheryl. I hadn't thought of fabric spray paint. I think she was going to use the spray paint normally used for furniture etc.
I haven't said anything to her as yet, but will suggest Fabric Spray paint as that seems to be successful. (If we can get it here in NZ)!
Many thanks
I think getting together some projects where people have painted theirs is your best bet. Offer to help if she needs it, it not with the project maybe with dinner or clean up or watch kids (if that is applicable). That will let her know you are supportive of her.
Auto part stores should carry fabric spray paint. Regular spray paint will stiffen and harden the fabric.
Hi Ava, I hope this information will help you convince your DIL to use the right paint if she is painting a micro suede settee. Good luck. www.hometalk.com › q-can-you-actually-paint-fabric-like-microfiber...

And . . . Next time they decide to purchase furniture on line, request a fabric swatch first. If the manufacturer refuses, move on . . . I know the millennials like to shop on line, and this is what happens. My vote is also for fabric spray paint. Yes I am curmudgeonly, I want to sit on it, make sure it is deep enough, that the back is supportive, the cushions firm and plump, that the fabric is of decent quality and is easy to clean. If wood, check that the finish is good, etc. I just can't rely on color swatches on a computer as every computer it will turn up differently, poorly written descriptions and / or dimensions, and so on. I know I am a dying breed, but not the only one, I recently helped a friend purchase a sofa and a few other pieces to update a family room. When I suggested an on line search, I received the look of disbelief. NO! Was the answer. I mapped out the furniture stores in the area and off we went. Good luck!
I feel like that will make them crunchy and splotchy and be really bad.
