DIY End Table Storage for Stuffed Animals
Spindles removed from an old baby crib are the materials needed for this reuse project. Purchase a couple of wood rounds and you're ready to start!
This short video will give you a step by step tutorial of the storage end table.
We are using the spindles we removed from one side of this crib. You can see what we did with the mattress support and this video will show us removing the spindles.
You'll need two of these wood rounds which we got at our local Home Depot store. They come in two sizes. We are using the smallest one they sell which is approximately 18" round. The finished table is about 22" tall.
The first step is to create a template to mark the holes for the spindles. The video will give you a good overview of this process which uses wrapping paper that has a cutting grid printed on the backside. Once the template is finished, cut it out, tape to the wood round and transfer the hole locations to the wood round. You'll do this for both of the wood rounds.
Here we are transferring the hole locations onto the wood round using the Forstner bit we will be using to drill the holes. That handy blue tool is a Kreg multi-mark which helps us to keep the spacing consistent.
Once the holes are marked, drill all the holes using the bit making sure to keep them all the same depth.
Before attaching the spindles, we stained the wood rounds. The spindles are glued and brad nailed into place on one round and allowed to dry for 24 hours. The carpenters square is to insure the spindles are straight.
After one side is dry, the piece is turned over and the process is repeated.
Fill it up to keep all the toys for human or greyhound dog up and out of the way, but still convenient.
This opening is slightly larger than the spaces between the other spindles to allow the table to be filled and for easy access for Steph's dog Mac.
