I have been wanting to change up a space in our home and I finally figured out what I wanted to do.I chose to use a Dollar Tree Item and update it to a Farmhouse Style sign, add in some spring florals, and update a tray that I already had with a farmhouse style design as well.
First things first, I wanted to change up this sign.
So I removed the metal heart and set it aside because I knew I wanted to reuse it. I also removed the hanger that was attached. Then I added a couple of coats of white acrylic paint and let that dry in between coats, and when it was ready for the next step I lightly brushed on some black paint along the edges and along the indention lines to give it a rustic faux barn wood look.
I chose to use jute string for my hanger, so I just strung it through the existing holes and tied a simple knot.I also wanted to add in some buffalo check ribbon so I cut a piece to just fit around the edge of the sign and I used my hot glue gun to put in place.
I knew I wanted it to say Home so I used my computer and vinyl cutter to cut out some farmhouse style letters with adhesive vinyl.
I wanted to use the metal heart in place of the letter o, so I attached the heart on top of the ribbon with hot glue, and then placed my vinyl letters onto the sign.
I had thought about adding a bow or some greenery to dress it up even more but I changed my mind on that one.I really like the simplicity of it the way it is.
I added some faux florals for some spring pops of color.. (wishful thinking) icon I am so ready for spring!I also updated a tray that I had with a farmhouse design using vinyl as well and hung it on the wall with some command strips.
I am still fussing with the decor a bit on this side table but I am really happy with how it is looking so far.I have the corresponding video on my youtube channel linked if you'd like to check that out.For the diy farmhouse sign, I had everything on hand besides the sign that I purchased at dollar tree. However, I wanted to make a note that besides the diy farmhouse sign project: I also purchased the faux florals at dollar tree as well, and the command strips that I used to hang my tray I purchased at amazon.
