Mudroom Makeover

Our mudroom is the main entrance to our home and it needed a little makeover! It was feeling a little tired and some fresh color was what I was looking for!
Before
After taking the Christmas decor down, I did not add anything back in here because I was expecting to start this project! When we first moved in to our home, I went with this dark green. I still love this color but I wanted to go with something lighter! This room flows directly into our Family Room and so the two rooms are painted the same. The Family Room is dark because there are not any windows bringing in natural light and this was the impetus for me wanting to lighten things up!
First, I needed to prep the room. I took off the chair rail, filled and sanded all the holes in the walls, taped off the trim around the doors and the baseboard and protected the door hardware.
Once I finished prepping the walls, it was time to start painting. I was so happy to have the opportunity to work with ECOS Paints and try their Lullaby collection in Plume Grass. I always cut in the corners and edges first and I do two coats. The paint covered the dark green so well - I was impressed!
After I finished cutting in both coats, it was time to roll! I was doing this late at night which is why the color looks a bit wonky!
When I was deciding on the color I wanted for this space, I wanted to go with a neutral color and one that was in the environment we live in. I was trying to match the color of the Eucalyptus leaves in our yard. I would say I did a pretty good job! A beautiful, sage green that shifts a little in the light. Shoutout to ECOS Paints for having great color choices and the online colors being true to life.
After
I am really loving how well this turned out and the lighter space I now have! I am excited to start work in the Family Room with this same color in the coming weeks! The buffet is an heirloom piece that my mom gifted me and I think it looks beautiful here.
This shows how different the space looks depending on the light. I really am enjoying how light and bright it is now.
There are still two items in this space that need to be addressed, the floor and the light, but I am happy with the progress! The power of paint is real and I am looking forward to more of its transformative powers in the Family Room!
