DIY/Upcycled Candle Jars
I love being able to reuse/upcycle items I have around the house by turning them into items that become functional again. I’ve also always loved the look of glass jars filled with cotton balls, etc. What better way to reuse/upcycle old candles than to reuse the jars for storage! Follow along for a very easy DIY project with items i can almost guarantee you have around your home.
First step is to find an old candle than is basically burned to the bottom of the jar. It’s okay for the candle to still have some wax in the bottom.
To clean out the candle jar, you to put the candle in the freezer for a few hours, or over night. This will freeze the wax making it very easy to break up with a knife (comes right out!)
I then cleaned out the jar and peeled the label off of the outside. This allows you to be able to see what is inside the jar & display items like cotton balls, etc.
And that’s it!! All you have to do is fill your jars with whatever you would like to display. The great thing about this DYI/Upcycle project is that the jars looks great but they’re also very functional!! These two jars sit on my bathroom shelves to hold/display stops & cotton balls!

Freezing the jar to remove the wax is great, but do you have any suggestions on how to remove the perfume smell that lingers. I have allowed baking soda to sit in the covered jar. After 2 days the jar is good, but the metal cap still smells.
After you remove the wax, what do you clean it with, to remove any residue?
