Hi Cindy, there are broad leaf killers and sterilizers, sterilizers kill everything, broad leaf only kill weeds and plants with wide or broad leaves, like a dandelion, thistle, or milkweed, but won't kill grasses. You can apply a weed killer with precision if you brush it on, or pour it at just the roots of the plant you want gone. Here's a recipe for an everything killer , hope this helped you.

My advice if you want to use a weed killer is to apply with either an artist brush or eye dropper in order to only kill the particular weed and not damage the surroundings. You will also want to make sure you use a natural killer vs. one of the deep penetrating commercial types.
