How do I clean grease spots off my new stove?

We bought new appliances after I redid my kitchen . I bought GE brand , with a slate finish . It goes great with the vintage cottage / industrial look I have . It is a charcoal gray color , in a matte , no fingerprint type finish . I don't do much frying , but I cook a lot and often saute things. I found that things splatter every once in a while , and now I have a few dots of grease , that I can't seem to clean off 😣 I have tried ...vinegar & water , microfiber cloth & water ,window cleaner , dawn dishwashing detergent and hot water , magic eraser .I called the manufacturer and they said to try baking soda & water , that didn't work either ! Anybody have any suggestions ????? Thanks !!!

I have the GE slate finish appliances. I love this finish. I just use some Dawn dish soap and hot water and then polish with a microfiber cloth. I really haven't had any trouble with grease spots. I have had my appliances for about 5 years.

Try a kitchen safe degreaser. I like GP66 or Fuller brands. I've never had any issues with them doing anything to the finish. I even use it on our laundry.

Oh ! I have a degreaser , I will try it on a part of the stove that won't be seen , if it affects the finish . Thanks !

Is it stainless steel with a slate finish? There are specific stainless steel cleaners, which might help. I've had good luck with dish detergent, too, which I know you said you tried. Maybe try letting it soak a little and then scrub it?

Thanks , but is different than stainless steel , sort of like the stainless steel that doesn't leave fingerprints...It has a matte finish in a charcoal color.

  • Run a damp rag over the greasy area, then sprinkle a layer of baking soda over the area. Allow this to sit for about 5 minutes. Scrub with a damp rag or scrubber sponge to remove burnt-on grease.

Thanks , but I tried that already , but I might have used a cotton rag , not a microfiber cloth , will try it again 😊

Don't use a magic eraser it can mar your new stove. I would try Simple Green. Spray it on, and let sit a minute and then use a microfiber cloth.

Yes , I tried the magic eraser on a spot that wouldn't show , if it causes any issues . I will try simple green , thanks .

If Simple green does not work, but it should go to Walmart or an auto store and get some cleaner degreaser. Purple Power is great and can be used for many different cleaning projects around the house.

Fantastic spray cleaner or Mr. clean spray cleaner. Either cut grease.

I have the same issue! I have a gas stove and even though the surface around the burners is more of a gloss finish, I still can’t get the gummy feeling grease off! My rangehood is the Matt and is awful! It always feels sticky on top.

Best thing I've found is a degreaser called Awesome Degreaser from the Dollar Tree.

Is this what you have? Just bought a house and was wondering if anything ever worked.

Hi ! I just saw your question ... Yes , I found a cleaner that works , at least better than other cleaners . Not 100% , but close . It is made by Zep , called antibacterial disinfectant with lemon . I don't remember if I got it at Costco, Lowe's or Home Depot ??? It didn't work the first time I used it , but it seemed to work better than all the other cleaners. I started using it several times a week and the stains are finally fading !!!! They are almost all gone , and the ones that are still there can only be seen at certain angles , and probably only by me , lol , since I know they are there . Good luck !!!!

    Hi,

Try covering spots with kitchen towel and a Warm iron to draw out the oil!

Hi! I have that problem too. Do you found something to take out the spots?
