How can I achieve better color balance on my home exterior?

Would adding a tint to your windows work? The white on the grids and trim seems to pop out. Also, changing the color of your vents, gutter, and trim to match the door.

I would have a double window box installed at the top two windows on the left. Paint it to match the garage door color. It could be metal or wood. Great way to pull the color across and lead the eye up to a beautiful design element---with flowers too! Good luck!

I would paint the keystones garage-brown, paint the big pots garage brown and move them over to the left and asymmetrically balance the planters there.

I would look at planting Swedler or Japanese maple on the left- one that has dark purple tones year round.

Without seeing the full view of the front door approach, I can’t tell if a garage-brown pergola or trellis could be a good solution.

I know its not visible in this picture, but why not paint your front door the same color?

Going along with Baxter's idea, you could add some large urns or large round flower pots the garden on the left and paint them to match the garage door. If you really want to add a lot more of that color, you could find a garden edging that you like and paint that. I also agree with Kathy that if you want to color on the left side, it would help to paint trim, gutters and vents that same color. Wishing you the best.

Well , shutters would be my first , easy to solve solution , but since you don't want them ...try some large planters around the front edge of your rock landscaping, in the same color as your garage with flowers and some greenery spilling over the sides . What about a window box , instead of shutters , on that top window , painted in the garage color and fresh flowers , in season and fake greenery out of season .

Really Beautiful home. I wouldn't change a thing. Maybe in the course of time you can alter the Slab Driveway design to edge with Bricks or even have an embedded Mosaic. (Especially if you buy a Hovercraft Car) Other than that, she is perfect as she is.

I decided to change the garage color to more brownish. How’d I do?

Eric, you did great! Changing it somewhat really makes a difference. You have a beautiful home. I would not paint the trim dark, nor paint gutters dark which would draw attention to them. I would edge the area to separate the grass from the shrubs and lovely trees. Absolutely gorgeous home!

The picture with the dark grey garage door clearly is the winning view!

Painting the eaves troughs and trim the same color as the garage door now connects the different shaped portions of the house and gives needed definition and dimension.

Removing the cypress and some of the bushes eliminates the cluttered look that detracted from the regal design of the home.

Adding the dark grey gravel base to match the garage door color gave needed balance to the left side, both in color and weight.

Adding the light grey rock border gives presence to the walkway and makes it more inviting, drawing the eye inward towards the front door.

Your efforts have now changed an otherwise ordinary property to a Wow!

I'd get rid of the gray garage door repaint using one of the lighter colors in the brick. The dark contrast is too stark for the delicate lighter colors in the bricks.

If you did repaint it, use one of those lighter colours. I agree with Genie that like it's a large door. So it dominates the front of the house. A lighter color would make it disappear just a bit more.
