How can I add color to this taupe/brown bathroom?

Lindsay: I think the blue in your rug look fantastic with your neutral tile and counter-top! Why don't "steal" some of the blue... and put into towels and shower curtain?

Your rug is beautiful. I would take one of the colors from the rug, blue, greens etc.

Paint your vanity in a sage green or Woodlawn blue and then get towels and shower curtain to match. Plus you can add art work on the walls with those colors. Kirklands has great decorating items.

Hi Lindsay, you have so much you can change that the tiles will work with!,, Pick a color you like, say blue, (like on the rug you have) paint the walls that color or a color just a shade lighter, or darker, and and paint the base of the vanity, change the color of your towels , add an over the toilet storage and put something colorful on top. The beige in the tiles are neutral, they will match what ever you add. Remember that a shower curtain can add so much to the bathroom as well, there are so many pretty ones out there. You have a nice area and all that's needed is color in the form of towels, shower curtain and accessories. Chose a color you love, maybe using one of the colors in the rug you already show. Artwork with those colors can be found or you could get a couple of canvases and paint your own in the colors you decide upon.

Sherwin William's Sea Salt (or something similar) would be gorgeous on your walls. It looks great with neutrals like the color of your tile and would really perk up your space.

I agree that the blue in the rug would be great to pull color from and I would add one more color, like coral pink or yellow. There are lots of ways to add pops of color to the room like: picture frames, vases, wall hangings, shower curtain. Find a color scheme that you really love and then start making changes with those colors in mind. Here are a few for inspiration:

Omgeeee ty ty ty you are amazing i love visual suggestions lol... getting around colors and emulating what I see in catalogs and on Pinterest is hard for my brain to put into action... i get a lil overwhlemed.

Hence some of my past posts when we first moved in. However I have had other setbacks keeping me from decorating and now have the chance to pull this home together and make it just that... "a home"... its very blanks.

A pale blue would go nicely , you could paint the walls and add accents , like pick up the color in a shower curtain or towels or pictures on the wall . You could put up a 1/2 wall of beadboard , painting that or the wall above it . Good luck !!!

If you are short on storage capacity, I would recommend making use of the space in between the wall studs by building a recessed cubby with shelves.

In the first example, I purchased a pre-made shelving unit, then cut the drywall out just enough so the entire piece fit inside. Window trim applied to the outside face of the unit finished the look.
