How do I rid my hardwood floors of the hazy foggy film?
I have tried the glass cleaner, vinegar and water, along with other products. No luck. After trying to cleanI can scratch with my fingernail and remove some of the film but nothing removes it.
Usually vinegar will take care of the problem, Rebecca. If you've tried that and it didn't work, you may want to consult a professional.

Could it be a wax build up?
Hi Rebecca: Try this:
Mix 1/2 cup ammonia and 1 gallon of warm water in a bucket. Mop the floor with the ammonia solution using a terrycloth mop. Wipe up the solution by hand with a microfiber cleaning cloth. Buff the floor dry with circular motions, applying moderate pressure to areas with especially visible hazy buildup.

Good luck
I use one cup of lemon scented ammonia to one gallon hot water with a sponge mop. Mop the floor wet then wring out and wipe off.
you might need to sand them and then re seal them.
Hi Rebecca. That film might be coming from your water and not cleaners. Try using a gallon of filtered water instead.
This is going to be a job. Spray with a non ammonia glass cleaner, let it set a minute, then use a non abrasive scratcher. Use a microfiber cleaning cloth to wipe/buff area. You need to do this in small sections.
1 cup hydrogen peroxide to 2 gallons hot water. That should cut the build up. If it is wax, you will have to strip it.
Try the ammonia cleaner in a small unnoticeable area and see if it takes it up, there may be a layer of wax on the floor, the ammonia will cut through the wax, it may take some elbow grease.
Since vinegar and acidic cleaners did not work, hopefully the ammonia will. If not, you will probably have to consult the manufacturer or strip, sand and refinish.
Best to you.
Hello Rebecca,
You may have to use a floor sanding machine using fine steel wool to get it back to original and then start again using a sealer.............Best wishes
Sounds like you may need to re-sand them.
With the windex you need to add 1 cup of windex to 3 cups of water and then wash the floor
The first option you can try is an ammonia-free cleaner like Windex. Spray a two-foot section of your floor and let the cleaner sit for about two minutes. Next, use a dish-scrubbing sponge to rub the section of the floor where you sprayed the cleaner.
Only certain Windex products are ammonia-free, the others do contain a small amount of ammonia.
