Hello! Generally I like the addition of the Oxi clean powder or borax for white brightening properties. Hope this helps.
Yes I soak in Oxi clean powder too especially if I can't bleach it. If it is something I can bleach I do both....oxi clean bath and then bleach. I have also heard you can use hydrogen peroxide diluted to also clean whites. Don't mix all the chemicals though.
Here is an idea that seems to work well: https://www.wikihow.com/Clean-White-Furniture
Sue: I am a HUGE fan of Oxiclean! Soak item overnight -- turning a couple pf times.
Add 1 cup of lemon juice or hydrogen peroxide to your wash. Both have a bleaching agent that will not damage the fabric.
I use 1/3 bottle of hydrogen peroxide with detergent when I wash whites.
Helpful information here:
Hi Sue: It depends on the type of fabric and stain. Some fabrics can't take bleach, so that's out. Here's a site that should help:
Hi Sue, the cleaning method for white fabric will depend on what the fabric is made of. If it's cotton you can you bleach as noted on the bottle and let soak for 20-30 minutes. If it is a synthetic fabric, you'll likely be fine using an oxi-clean type product to brighten the fabric and clean it well.
What I do is use a powdered peroxide bleach equivalent (same as Oxyclean only cheaper) from Dollar Tree. For small items I soak them in a container for at least 30 min then launder as usual, pouring the soaking water into the washer. For larger items, like towels, add the dry bleach to the washer and then start the cycle so it gets mixed into the water, then add the articles needing bleaching to the washer and let it set the 30 min and restart the washer.
I would use bleach if it’s cotton and a bleach alternative if it’s not bleach.
