Can you use magazine or will the other side show through? Where can you find napkins or wrapping paper? Does the paper have to be thin for a reason?

Thin paper will absorb the decoupage glue more easily and will be a little more pliable when you apply it. Magazines might be a little harder to use, since they often have a glossy coating. You can get cheap napkins and tissue paper at the dollar store or Walmart.

Personally, I've used different thicknesses for decoupage, even fabric. I find it harder to layer with increased thickness, so take that into your planning.

Dollar Tree has napkins, wrapping paper, etc. to use. You could use old scrapbook paper as well. You can also use fabric. Go to a fabric store and go through the remnants and find something you like for cheap

  • Where do you live Owna? Any grocery store, Wal-Mart, Target, drug store, party shop, Home Goods, craft store, etc., sell pretty paper napkins and gift wrap. If you decide to use fabric or thicker paper, you will use significantly more mod podge product, so take that into consideration when planning your project.

Hello! My daughter used cut up magazine ads to make paper mosaics. She used the magazines with the thicker paper and used modgepodge. We believe thicker paper is better with the use of liquid modgepodge. Hope this helps!

I like to use one ply napkins but I have used magazine sheets. Tuesday Mornings usually always have some really pretty napkins and wrapping paper. I tear the napkins and it blends really well onto the item you are working with.
