How can I cover a wood trim window in the shower?

The 2 shower curtain system works well and is probably the least expensive way to handle the window in the shower situation, it is effective, this was the set up in my parents 1950 home.

Since there is no picture you have either a shower stall-tub combo and no individual tub or a tub with a circular rack holding the shower curtain which goes around the inside of the tub. Either way there is a window.

So, I am guessing the problem is the frame of the actual window being made of wood, I would suggest a couple of choices. The window frame could be painted with a water proof paint, available at diy stores. An alternative would be to replace the window with one framed in vinyl or aluminum. You could shop around and find 1 that would best suit your wall, call contractors or window businesses for free estimates.

If it is a wood trim is not touching the window frame I would replace the trim with a plastic border. Another thought would be to remove the window and use glass blocks.

Either way, it needs to be waterproofed and caulked to prevent any water seepage damage.

Lastly, and probably the most expensive would be to completely remove the window and make it a solid wall.

Before we got a vinyl window in our shower I made a curtain out of a plastic tablecloth. I found a pretty one and hung it on a plastic cafe curtain rod. It did the trick.

Hello. For privacy have you considered using some of the frosted vinyl overlays. The let in light but no one can see him. We recently purchased some on Amazon and placed it on three windows for privacy in our bathrooms.

There's a product called KERDI membrane. You will need to tear out the wood frame and replace it with the membrane. Then you can tile, grout and caulk to keep water out. Personally, I think I'd replace it with glass blocks, though.

A film would do well for that for a short-term solution! They can be found at Home Depot/Lowes. But have you thought about switching the window out for glass block? That would maintain the lovely light in your bathroom and you wouldn't be able to see in our out.

It sounds to me like you are concerned about water damage rather than privacy? If the paint and caulking is carefully maintained, the wood frame should be able to handle the moisture. If it were mine, I would replace the sill with a tile sill that is angled slightly towards the interior so water naturally runs back into the shower. I would also keep a squeegee or cloth to wipe it down immediately after every shower.

I would not use glass block unless the window is high up. I had one that was that was 7 block high and 5 wide. BELIEVE me you can see a lot thru glass block. There is not much privacy. Even with the patterned glass you can still see that SOMEONE is in the shower. A bit creepy. How about a spring tension rod and a small part of a shower curtain cut to fit the window? Cut the curtain in 4 pieces. When it gets dirty use another piece. Use the holes and get an inexpensive set of shower rings.That would be the curtain cut quarters. When it comes to the bottom piece with no holes get a set of rings with clips at Target. Very inexpensive and you can use the shower curtain for at least 4 curtains. Two using the holes at the top and two using the bottom part of the curtain.

Go with plastic trim replacement and window privacy film. I prefer Rabbitgoo brand. You can also swap out the window with glass blocks.

Have you thought about window film? A frosted window film would cover the window and you wont have to deal with a curtain.

We've replaced the wood trim with the new PVC waterproof trim. Also replaced trim with ceramic tile and put in glass block. Both work great.
