Do you have a pic of existing lamp shade?
And a really quick way to change up a lamp shade and not very much work at all. Remember the stretchy "bubble" strapless tops that were so popular a while back? Just plop one of those over your shade. I know it sounds crazy but I did this and received so many compliments. You can cut them to fit the depth of your shade.

My sister went for an industrial look and removed the cover, leaving only the wire. It's not my taste but it's nice. You can go farmhouse and use chicken wire.
Get fabric to match lamp and room. Measure the shade for the amount of fabric plus cording lace etc. plenty of fabric glue.
You can decoupage fabric onto the lampshade.
