How do I paint leather furniture without ruining it?
I’ve been told leather must breathe. So doesn’t painting seal it? Very interested in refinishing our burgundy leather sofa as the sun has faded it. But don’t want to ruin it. Thanks for your help!
Hello. Im not sure the degree of restoration or precise color, could touch up paint work? That what my son did on his sofa with this product.
You need to check over reviews Q&A and see if your correct color is available. Hope this helps.

You can buy "Fabric Paint", Hardware or Paint Shops should have it.
I agree with you. I would try leather dye instead of paint. There are leather shoe dyes, but I think a leather dye kit would be better.
Fabric paint is designed to adhere to woven fibres in fabric. It will not be effective in altering the color of leather without cracking.
As far as using auto seat paint, unless you have all the materials, and follow all the requisite steps carefully, it may be easier to re-dye the leather in order to darken the color with any permanance.

Hi this is Peggy. Here is some information about painting leather furniture and what type paint to use. Good luck with your project. What kind of paint do you use on leather furniture?
While any brand of acrylic paint is more suited for leather painting than other paint types, be aware that there are subcategories. For example, acrylic leather paints specifically engineered to work on leather clothing will not be as perfect on your furniture as a furniture specific brand might be.Oct 16, 2019

Don't paint it. Unless you really know what you are doing it will ruin it.
Auto parts store sell paint for leather car seats and interiors so I see no problem.

Thank you for reaching out for advice on your leather sofa. I have used shoe polish matching my leather furniture to repair cosmetic scratches, and you cannot see where there were scuffs (from moving) and scratches (from lap dogs jumping up). I bought the bottles of shoe polish with the sponge tops to wipe it on. A friend of mine found shoe leather in wax form in a tin and wiped hers on. My try with shoe polish was based on the fact it was made for leather, so I figured it could not hurt. She said the same about the shoe polish in a tin and re did her whole couch with it and a sponge or soft cloth. I hope this helps.
Hi, you can buy specialized leather paint that still allows it to breath and has the right absorbent qualities for leather too. Most auto shops stock the paint and there are a few colors to choose from
