Black Wire Stand Updated!
My friend gave me this wire stand that was her father’s. He was downsizing and getting rid of it. In honor of my friend, and because I really liked it, I used it at our lake house as a nightstand in our bedroom. We moved permanently to our lake house a couple of years ago and this got put in the garage in case I needed it for later. We just remodeled our kitchen/family room in a (I don’t know what else to call it but) black/white/wood theme. This black wire stand just got a facelift!
Here is the wire stand. It worked ok when I used it beside my bed but I got tired of things falling through. It looked a little worn, so I spray painted it a matte black color.
In order for the stand to be more functional, I cut this barn wood to size and sanded it.
I used a Behr Ultra interior matte finish called Cottage White. It’s a paint and primer in one. Love this paint. It covers really well in usually 2 coats.
This picture may look a little odd, but let me explain. I wanted the spacing between the boards to be consistent. I needed something quick to use and looked around and saw a stack of old saw blades that I will be using in a later project. In between the boards they went, wood glue was added to the back of the slats and then those got air nailed to the bottom of the shelves.
I used these Porter Cable 3/4 inch nails to secure the boards together.
Adding the shelves makes it so much more usable and a great addition to our new remodel.
This side view shoes how a book or magazine can be placed on its side and not get lost in a pile on the shelf.
And here it is just after I brought it into the house. So, that’s why there isn’t a lot of “stuff” on it yet. I think on the bottom I’ll put my bin of dog toys so they can get to them easily. Only wish they new how to put them back🙋🏻♀️
