How to Create an Annie Sloak Antique Dark Wax Glaze
Here's how to give a chalk painted piece of furniture a VERY quick antique look.
NOTE: Your piece will need to be clear waxed first, otherwise, it's going to be hard to remove any dark wax off later.
You can find the original post here: https://thecarpentersdaughter.co.uk/upcycling/51/
This glaze will take less than a minute to make! You will need to mix an equal amount, so I start off with the following and make more later if I need it:1 tbsp Annie Sloan dark wax1 tbsp of white spirits (AKA turpentine or paint thinner)
Mix together until the Annie Sloan dark wax has dissolved. Make sure you're mixing in an old bowl you don't care about!
Using a paint brush, apply over your clear waxed furniture. This antique glaze will instantly look interesting on any texture or molded detail as above.
Here's a close up!
So while you go over with your paint brush, you can instantly wipe off the excess with a lint free cloth and leave to dry.
If you find it is darker in areas than you hoped for, then simply remove by wiping with another lint free cloth, but THIS time, using CLEAR WAX.
