How much would it cost to paint a ceiling after skimming?

One coat of primer, touch up if skim coat showing thru anywhere. Two coats of paint.

Are you looking for a painter to do it or DIY? I would highly recommend the ceiling paint at Sherwin Williams and increase the amount needed for the area by 20% since it's new mud. Pricing is going to depend on the size of the room as well. Also, the area in which the work is to be done will influence the price.

Prices vary based on location, size of ceiling, what painters charge, cost of paint. One primer coat and two coats of finish paint. DIY would be cost of paint.

Have a painting party. Buy pizza and beer for everyone after the painting is done. If you get 4 good painters to help out you will be surprised how fast this gets done and generally just for the cost of supplies.

If you go with hiring this out a handy man will be cheaper then a pro. Just be sure to ask for references from whoever you decide on.

If you are going to diy instead of hiring out, don't be lured by cheap priced paint. In my experience better quality paint is thicker, it covers faster, and does not smear as easily. As it drips less than low priced paint, there is less wastage.

Fun answer - The cost of hiring someone else to do the job - get a quote! Some would spray paint it others would use a roller and some would use a brush or even a combination of all. It rather depends on the area and the paint used. Do check out the back of the cans for coverage................ How long is a piece of rope??

You can figure the cost of the paint quite easily by multiplying the length of the room by the width for the total square footage, then check the canister of paint for how much it covers.
