A client of mine found this beautiful piece of drift wood while she was on vacation on the West Coast. When she asked me to paint "WELCOME" on it for her I gladly obliged.

She planned to put the finished project outside under her semi-covered front porch and because I knew it had the potential of being in the elements of the weather, I chose to use an Acrylic paint to ensure the paint itself did not weather.

Take a look at what I did to create her beautiful sign:

This is what the piece of driftwood looked like before I started. Very ordinary!

These are the materials I used:

  1. Paint
  2. Stencils
  3. Paint brush
  4. Piece of driftwood

You really don't need much for this easy project!

I placed my stencils on the piece of wood to ensure they would all fit. I then used the white acrylic paint that I got from Michael's to fill in the letters.

I used two coats of this chalk paint and it covered the wood wonderfully!

And that was it!

What do you think? I think it turned out great!
