What would I use to make a firepit fire like the one below?
Hi! I love fire pits but don't have any experience with that. I wonder what is used to make fire looks like the stone (what kind of stone?) is burning? What kind of fuel, if any? Thank you!

It looks like a propane fire pit. It would have a propane burner under those rocks. The rocks look like slate or maybe lava? This is not a DIY - this was purchased Complete somewhere.
Hello. These type of fire pits can be purchased at many retail venues. They contain cylinder a fuel compartment below the rocks likely propane under the rocks. Here’s a link for your review
Hope this helps.

You can make one of these, but make sure you use the right kind of stones that will not break and fly up in the air and hurt someone. Here are some of the correct rocks.
These kind of fire bowls are operated by propane.
This fire pit looks like it's using lava stones. My guess is it may be propane fueled.
Hi Dannchy,
Wow that is so cool! Love those firepits. Have you seen what else you can use in fire pits besides lava stones? Check this link out here. My favorite is Dragon glass. This link also has the stones you can buy as well.

HI! you might want to check with the manufacturer... but I've had good luck with this product (for a smaller "pit")

When purchasing a bowl or pot,
you’ll need to buy your propane cylinder or tank first, so that you have plenty of height to add the grate & the rocks.
A BBQ sized propane tank is expensive & big, but you won’t have to change it out as frequently.
Also, finding a suitable grate & putting expanded metal lath on it will be part of the pot-shopping criteria.
Hi Dannchy, this looks like it could be a propane fire, or it could be a gel fire, you can buy the gel at many home stores, like Walmart, Home Depot
The image looks like a little gel can which can be purchased at home improvement and craft stores. The stones are just regular stones but were likely purchased at a craft store. The bowl is poured concrete in a mould which you can create with two bowls.
