Can you give me ideas for landscaping my yard?

Hello-what is exciting gardening opportunity. It all depends upon your taste and aesthetic.

Perhaps you would like to look over a garden book Pinterest or Houzz for ideas of potential shrubs trees and plants that you like with attention to your planting zone

Do you want to have a specimen tree in front of your house? Do you prefer a flowering tree -evergreen or deciduous tree. Do you want lawn or ground covers or flowering shrubs?

Most plants success depend on their hardness to geographic planting zones presenting weather conditions. This information influences your choices.

Additionally for the best local professional advice I would highly suggest contacting your cooperative extension. These offices are manned by volunteer master gardeners on site there waiting to answer the communities questions that know your local situation quite well.

Master gardeners are required to volunteer back designated hours ( plus continuing education) each year to maintain MG certification -this community outreach and education is their goal.

You could make a little garden around the wishing well. I would plant some perennials that come up every year and then fill in with annuals. You may want to check with your local nursery to see which perennials do well in your area. I really like the flower filled bucket in the picture I have posted.

I love those ideas of putting a garden around the wishing well. You could plants vines too so they crawl all over it and add a path into the garden and around the well.

How lovely! I would spruce up the roof over the wishing well with stain on the shingles and paint the rest of it. Add lighting around the well so that it can be appreciated at night as well.

I'm a big fan of potted plants because they are easy to cover and protect from the winter weather.

In the yard closer to the house, plant flowering fruit trees.

It's unclear whereyour wishing well is located in relation to your home but you might consider making it the focus point of your yard and perhaps place pavers around the well so you could add nice outdoor chairs for a relaxing spot near the pine tree(s). You could have pots of colorful flowers during the summer and use the area as a gathering place for friends and family to visit and "wish".

You could add some mulch around the tree and plant some hostas around it in the mulch (if it is shaded). We have done that with our trees in the back and it looks nice. For the wishing well, maybe you could fill the inside of it with dirt and plant some annuals (wave petunias would be gorgeous!) and add some light gravel over the dirt/around them to make it look nice. Perhaps you could white wash the stones in the wishing well or paint/stain the wood to freshen it up.

I would place blue and white bulbs and trailing plants in the Well., and generally attend to maintenance rather than start anything new for the first year. You need to see the garden through the seasons to find out what you have in it, then you will be in a position to decide what you want or can do with it. To start digging could spoil something you really like before it has started to grow. Patients let the garden tell you it's secrets!................
