We hosted Thanksgiving this year and I was in need of some cheap table decor. I had lots of old clear vases in my cupboard and I also picked up a few more at the thrift store for a couple bucks. With some chalk spray paint, I was able to give them a modern and contemporary look. See for yourself...

You can find all of the steps and tips over in this blog post.

Vases - Before

Here's my collection of vases before. A lot of these were old and came with flower deliveries over the years.

Chalk Spray Paint

I grabbed a few colors of chalk spray paint for this project. This was my first time using chalk spray paint, so I was excited to see the finish.

Spray Painting Tips

When spray painting, stay about 6-8 inches away from the vase. It's better to do multiple light coats instead of fewer heavy ones (those can drip!).

Let The Vase Dry

We sprayed the inside and outside of each vase, giving it 3 light coats in total and letting it dry to the touch between coats.

Vases - After

I can't get over the cool finish with this spray paint. It's matte and makes these cheap glass vases look more like pottery!

Displaying My New Vase

I ended up using these vases for our Thanksgiving table and now I use them around the house to hold greenery and flowers. They're so pretty and look really high-end.
