Make Gift Bags From Repurposed Breakfast Cereal Boxes

3 Materials
5 Minutes
Easy

What better way to present a handmade gift to a loved one than with handmade gift wrap?! And if you repurpose your breakfast cereal boxes, you can get super quick, unique and colorful gift bags in literally five minutes!

Materials

  1. cereal boxes
  2. hole punch
  3. string, twine or ribbon
Make the bag!

Cut off the top flaps of the box.

  1. Press in the center of each short side.
  2. Make sure that the crease is centered on the side.
  3. Squeeze the fold closed.
  4. Punch a hole just inside the folded part so that you're making a hole through only two layers of paper.

Cut two pieces of twine or ribbon. Tie the pieces inside the holes to make two handles. Make sure that you use one piece per long side so that the gift bag can open easily.

If you want a shorter gift bag or you want to make two bags from one box, poke your scissors into the box and cut around to separate the top from the bottom.

Trim the cut edges so that they're clean, then fold the open flaps over and glue them into place.

Repeat the steps above to fold the top of the box and add the handles.

And you're ready to gift someone something, all wrapped up in a fun and unique way!
