Has anyone tried to revamp bathroom rugs that degraded on the back?
I have bathroom rugs that are perfectly good on the top but have disintegrated on the rubber backside; they have been washed numerous times leading to their degrading but are otherwise absolutely fine for using in my bathroom. Does anyone have any suggestions for covering the backs? The backing is flaking off like powder and in chunks rendering them un-usable. Thank you for any suggestions.

If you want to touch up the rubber backing why not try Flex Seal in a spray can. Take the rug outside and spray it in the fresh air.

Perfect solution!!!! Thank you!!!!
I had a few that did that so I picked all the back off and now use like that. Most rugs they are selling now don't have the backing so I don't see it as an issue, once I got it all off. It was not fun but I used it as an excuse to binge watch a series while I did it.

Yes —you can purchased a rubberized paint-on replacement coating made for a situation like this.
This a paint on nonslip material came in a jar that I used on a bathroom carpet years ago and that worked wonderfully to fully restore my plush br carpet.
Heres a similar product for you to look at, please check reviews Q&A and see if it meets your needs. Also look around at different manufacturer of this sorts paint on nonslip.
