People are panic buying all sorts of household supplies in preparation for a possible 14 day quarantine. Things like rubbing alcohol, masks, cleaning supplies and toilet paper are becoming difficult to find.


When you start to run out of cleaning supplies, you’ll need to start making your own if you can’t find any on the store shelves.

Supplies


Ingredients for DIY disinfectant spray

1 1/4 cups of water

1/4 cup of Everclear alcohol

1/4 cup of vinegar

10 drops of essential oils


Other supplies needed to make diy cleaner with alcohol

Empty bottle with spray nozzle

Silicone folding funnel set

Measuring cups

Directions for DIY Disinfectant Spray


Use the funnel to add all the ingredients into the bottle. Screw the spray top back on and gently and give it a little shake.

Make sure you use at least 60% alcohol


You need to use at least 60% alcohol for the spray to be effective. Use at least 120 proof grain alcohol. 151 is better.

The essential oils are optional. You can use any kind that you like the smell of.

How to Use


Simply spray the disinfectant on to the surface you would like clean and wipe off with a clean rag or paper towel.

You can use it on the following items:


  • Toys
  • Door knobs and handles
  • Kitchen and bathroom counter tops
  • Desks
  • Fitness equipment
  • Yoga mats

    When the pandemic first started and disinfectants were cleared from the shelves because of the panic to disinfect I bought a gallon of Everclear. Used it straight up, no mixing with water or anything else with no problem. The odor dissipates very quickly. Not saying this post is wrong, but straight up is an option as well.

      I have a recipe to soak lemon peel in the alcohol. Gives it a nice lemon smell.
