I would use some stronger thread and sew a few stitches in it to reinforce.

  To add onto this, look for upholstery needles and thread at the store and use pliers to push/pull the needle through if need be. You can use regular needles/thread, but it'll be easier and last longer with upholstery-specific ones. And if the fabric is dense, the pliers will save your fingers!

If it's faux wicker, is it plastic? You could try 3M super 77 along with a staple gun. To spot glue, spray onto a paper plate and take a toothpick or wooden skewer to dip into the glue. I use POWERSHOT , one of the best manual staplers. Or a staple gun used with a compressor.

You could attach canvas straps to the seat frame, giving you firmer support for your cushions.
