I think most people are using purchased aloe vera gel or aloe vera liquid to make hand sanitizer rather than using their plants to get enough aloe. I would keep my plants undisturbed and occasionally use the aloe liquid from the leaves to moisturize my hands after repeated hand washing and sanitizing.
I think everyone recommends aloe vera gel. Aloe vera gel has been processed, it is not directly from the plants. I believe that is the problem you are having.
Hi this is Peggy, Sorry you are having problems. I found an article, but was unable to copy and paste it. It did say put them in a blender. Hope this works for you. Clean out all the gooey sttuff from the plant, don't add the outer part. Good luck and stay well.
try a blender of some sort to really get them together. Here is a recipe if you need it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBG86DEmUlI&t=3s
You need to shake it vigorously. You can go with 80% alcohol, which might work better. Make sure you are using 2 parts alcohol 1 part aloe vera.
Chloe is right - commercially purchased aloe vera gels ( not the gel directly from the plant) have additives to keep the solution homogenized.
Hello. I would suggest using commercially produced aloe gel for best results. The viscosity likely are different and the mixture may not emulsify properly.

Hello Nooshin, you may want to mash or blend the real gel from the plant to make it a bit smoother, otherwise you should not worry too much, it's the natural state and texture of the aloe.
