I have a DVD stand that I am trying to repurpose instead of trash. Any ideas?
I would paint the inside a flat gray, and then recess the whole thing into a wall between studs. The gray would highlight anything colorful you choose to place in it
Here are some tips for staging bookcases: http://chicagolandhomestaging.com/home-staging-tips-for-bookshelves/
Ooooo! Good chalk paint project! I would agree with others-paint the inside one color and the outside another! My new thing is to buy all white pottery pieces to display. Now would be a good time to pick up white rabbits!
I would use that to display my favorite coffee mugs. I have some pretty ones from Anthropologie with my initial. I really like the recessing idea! Recess it and make it part of the coffee bar to store cups, etc. on!
Jim's idea is great, that is where it would fit perfectly. I would also paint it gray but put a patterned contact paper on the back walls of the individual cells. Something along the line of sheet music. I can also see a mini vase with a red rose in there too.
I would put a nice peel and stick wallpaper on the back wall. Depending on what room in the house this is in, would help with staging. I have some beautiful steins that would look great in those cubbies.
Lots of thoughts... the one that stands out right now is use it as a seasonal mini display. I'm thinking those cubbies are a lot smaller that they look. You could get a few different background papers and then display some minis for the time of year: winter, spring, patriotic, autumn... just a thought.
Paint it. Decoupage the back. Peel and stick wallpaper. Hang it in the bathroom or kitchen for extra storage. Wrap some fairy lights behind the molding for a unique night light. Can be used in a kids room.
Looks like a great built in space for display of items that are near to your heart. Like photos and then add some candles & bits of greenery and decor.
You could buy scrapbook paper for cheap at any craft store and even in music sheet print and cut and adhere to this project as well - I made a box similar to this for a wedding gift and he is a musician so I found tiny instruments he plays and sheet music paper to use - for her I added tiny books and other little trinkets that she is interested in. In the center I put a piece of scrapbook paper with the last name initial and they loved it! every time they move she sends me photos of where she has it hanging now..
you could print photos and cut them to the size of the inserts and then paint the frame on the outside another color - also scrapbook is cheap and you can find any thing you would want to cut and add in there as well- I made something similar as a wedding gift and I put in miniature band instruments and other things they like and put their last name initial in the center box and they loved it
I'd be tempted to made a wooden frame door for it, add hinges and some chicken wire. What a cute little farmhouse wall cupboard it would make.
Display tiny items!
Jennifer...Could you just it for vases, regular or miniture...even thimbles...not really sure how big it is.
What is it, and how big is it?
That is a great piece! I would hang it on the wall and fill it with seasonal items or you could lay it down and use it as a drawer organizer. Fill it with makeup?
How big is this? Is this just for the wall? Check out what I did with something sort of similar: https://happydealhappyday.com/shabby-chic-display-shelf-makeover/
Spice rack?
Use in the bathroom to put washcloths in
Hello there,
Add legs and a glass top and make it into a Curio Coffee Table "Berguterie" Not sure about spelling! French word for conversation table ( full of items of merit)!
Add legs to it and add a piece of glass. Put favorite vacation finds like sea shells or a memento and use as a coffee table.
I would add pretty baskets to it (either in neutral colors or various pops of color) and use it for storage.
Jennifer! What a pretty piece! I can see why you'd want to repurpose!
You could hang in your closet and use for small purses, etc
Seasonal decor ...love that frame :)
It depends on how you'd like to use it .
