More Acrylic Caulk in IOD Moulds
I am doing another tutorial for my Iron Orchid Design fans. My last post on here is my most viewed and it is 3 years old do here is a new update.
I use DAP Alex plus acrylic caulking and apply in the IOD moulds. Be sure it is this product.
You can use any of the IOD moulds but this is the one I use the most: trim moulding. They are wider therefore it takes longer for the acrylic to dry but there is no need to rush. Once dry the moulds last for years until you need them.
I may have had a blunder when filling the moulds. It seems I did not cut the tip short enough and puncture the seal with a nail (who knew LOL) and once the gun was pushed it came out the back but no worry I saved it all with a plastic knife and filled the moulds.
Fill the moulds and then let dry until clear which takes from a day to 3 depending on your temperatures.
You can smooth the tops with a wet finger and clean up the edges with wet cloth too or trim one dry.
These are varying stages of completion. The center ones are ones from over 2 years ago, still good to go.
Once dry just lift a corner and pull out, they are very flexible and pliable.
They are now ready to be glued on to your projects.

And, you can use the same nail to plug the tip. This will keep the caulk from drying out in the tip.

Great idea. I was going to use the expanding foam in a can. This looks easier.

What kind of Glue do you use to attach them to your projects? I'm an E6000 junkie but just wondering if it is ok to use on these? PS. Such a great idea, I love these molds and have a ton of them but I love that your idea makes them pliable and the ideas that are running through my mind right now are CRAZY! LOL.. I bought the same caulking as in the picture. I haven't used it yet, but I was wondering if I could paint this with latex paint. I want to put them on a cabinet I have and I want to use the same paint that I used on the cabinet, which is Latex paint.Should I use a primer first?
