How to install shiplap?
My walls are plaster and I want to add shiplap over it. How would I install it? It can't be nailed to plaster. Is just using adhesive enough?

How do I shiplap over plaster walls
You should use adhesive and nails and nail it into the studs. Use a stud finder first to find out where they are
You might be able to install furring strips vertically and then use those to nail your shiplap into.
Hi Tami you could consider using stick on vinyl flooring that looks like shiplap instead. Here's how one person did that: https://followtheyellowbrickhome.com/diy-faux-shiplap-using-peel-stick-vinyl-flooring/
Adhesive should work. This tutorial may help: https://www.stretcher.com/stories/03/03jul28h.cfm

If you have a power nailer either electric or air powered should not pose a problem. You can fir the walls out with 1X2 firing strips and nail to that. You can use adhesive to glue it on and use small finish nails to hold it in place. Locktite Powergrab is a good adhesive.

Can I shiplap plaster walls in a 100 year old house?
If you can nail it, and not use adhesive, that would be best. You might change your mind once the fad has passed and it would do a lot of damage to remove it if its glued. That being said, a electric or battery powered nailed would be best to use.
Yes I would fir-out the wall and use a drill and drill pilot holes to then screw the wood strips to the lath behind the plaster.
The fir strips will be useful around outlets, light switches and windows.
If you get the nails in the studs you could use nails that will stay if not you could glue it up
