I'm creating a mudroom in a recessed space in the entry from the garage. I'd like to do the third wall but don't want to wrap the door but don't know how to terminate midwall and have it look good/finished.
You could consider replacing the trim piece on the left side of the door with a piece that goes all the way to the ceiling, that would give you the stopping point for your shiplap.
You should be able to do that whole wall with the door. It should just butt up against the door trim. Or do it half way or 3/4 up the wall like wainscoting.
You could come around the corner just a third way along the wall leading up to the door and finish it off with your trim. That way you have a bit of protection for coats etc. and finish off by adding a long mirror on the rest of the wall up to the door (It will have two uses- you'll be able to check your dress and it will also be useful addition to the wall and Oh! It will also make the room look bigger and take attention from the corner. Best wishes
Your shiplap looks great! Maybe you could put shelving up on the door wall and back it with some pretty paper? (Instead of trying to shiplap the door wall.)
I actually feel that if you did 2 walls with shiplap third one should have it too .. I know it is not going to be easy to go around doors but will for sure bring lots of character
I agree with the majority that covering the entire wall is more cohesive, but if you don't have the confidence in your skill set to wrap a door, I respect your decision.
Instead, add a mud bench with a back that goes all the way to the ceiling. Make it look like a sensible design choice & no one will see it as a flaw.
Alternatively, finish with a bit of trim to separate the shiplap from floor to ceiling shelves, then the same trim on the other side of the shelves
Hi Danny, I agree with the folks who say don't do the third wall, it will look incomplete, there is really no way to make it look good, the only way would be to only go up about 4 feet max so it looks like wainscotting on that wall

I wouldn't do the third wall. It will just look unfinished if you don't do the whole thing
You could consider replacing the trim piece on the left side of the door with a piece that goes all the way to the ceiling, that would give you the stopping point for your shiplap.
You leave it alone or use a piece of molding to give a finished look.
It would look better to just stop it at that inside corner than try to stop it mid point on the door wall.
And I think it looks great you did a great job!
You should be able to do that whole wall with the door. It should just butt up against the door trim. Or do it half way or 3/4 up the wall like wainscoting.
Add moulding so that looks like it is framed.

I agree with those saying not to do it. But if you are insistent, you could try something like this
I actually feel that if you did 2 walls with shiplap third one should have it too .. I know it is not going to be easy to go around doors but will for sure bring lots of character

A piece of chair rail trim could do the trick.

What if you stop in the corner like you have in the photo.
