Cover a ceiling?

get some furring strips to go across the boards, them attach some sort of covering to it. What you use it dependent on what you want to pay and how you want it to look.

Posters and staple them up or cardboard and staple up or Sheetrock and paint or ceiling tile would look nice

We used a drop ceiling and my husband installed...Very nice and a little heavier than other ceilings and was vinyl.

There are tons of ceiling stiles appropriate to finished or semi-finished basements. Making a permanent decision shouldn't be rushed. But if you have children or elderly people spending mush time around exposed fiber glass insulation, protect their lungs asap.

We will eventually do something prettier, but we did a quick and dirty application of "house wrap" moisture barrier (generic Tyvek).

It is easily cut & patched if you need access to pipes. We even added a new water filtration system after the fact.

Btw, don't cover natural gas lines (yellow or black usually) this way. Installing with a staple gun can generate micro-sparks, or worse, puncture a hidden line. We stopped & started to just leave them exposed.

All of these are great ideas. If/when you put something up you cannot cover up any type of electrical box including junction boxes. This is by code.

A drop ceiling would be the best. The ceiling tiles are removable in case something needs to be serviced. Some people have just spray painted all one color.

Dropped acoustical tile ceilings are not for most DIY’ers, because putting in the grid is a lot of skilled work.

I would consider cutting sheets of drywall into 2’x2’ squares, drywall tape the edges, prime and paint them and screw them to the ceiling joists.

Before installation, add blocking where a ceiling joist is missing from your installation plans.

If you don’t want to leave the screw heads exposed, then push those little plastic buttons into the screw slots.

Make notes and take photos of where junction boxes are, as well as any shut off valves or plumbing traps.

Maybe put up some tapestries for now until you can do a real ceiling?

Drop ceiling is the most common solution to this type of issue. This allows you to easily remove panels to still access the pipes.

You could cover the ceiling with wood boards. They sell them in packages at the home store, about 5 boards to a package. I have seen pine boards like this and they look nice. Use a brad nailer and nail them to the joists.

Fix battens to ceiling and board it out. Use screws incase you have to expose the pipes for some reason. Best wishes. - If that is not possible - paint the ceiling and pipes the same colour to lose them, or make a feature of them by painting them different colours..............

we painted our ceiling a dark color then used vinyl lattice as the ceiling and it gives the perception of the ceiling being higher and deeper - everyone loves it and notices it first thing. You can also put rope or christmas type white lights under it

You could do a drop ceiling with acoustical tiles.
