How to Clean a Screen Porch

See that green stuff in the picture above? That's what is all over the screens plus stuff we can't see, but we know is there! For this DIY, we are simply using a microfiber cloth that has been dampened with water. That all, plus a lot of elbow grease!

Steph employed a circle motion to clean while I used a back and forth and up and down pattern. Both seemed to work equally. See the cloth Steph is holding? That dirt is from one small section of the inside side of the screen! Again, this is simply a damp microfiber cloth.

To safely clean the higher sections, we put up this multi-positional ladder. One of its features is the fact that two people can be on it at one time. (There is a weight limit so be mindful of that.) This was a time saver for us as we could clean a larger area before having to move the ladder.

For the outside of the screen, we found it efficient and safe to put the damp microfiber cloth on a Swiffer Duster. Note that the microfiber cloth is larger than a Swiffer pad, but we did get it to work. If you're going to do a lot like this you could easily cut a microfiber cloth down to size to easily fit the Swiffer.

While we had the ladder out, we used a spline mouse to reattach some of the screen spline that we accidentally pushed out of place. When cleaning the screen, be careful not to forcefully push on the screen or you may push the screen out of its track. Steph also did some minor repair to the screen porch door as well. She lubricated the hinges and tighten the screws.

Once the screen were cleaned, we also took care of the fan and the metal frames. We didn't use any chemical to clean but did use a damp magic eraser which worked very well.

Even though this simple method is time consuming, it is very effective with no extra mess to clean up after it is done. This is a project that can done over many days and has the added benefit of being a stress free, relaxing way to pass the time. Well, at least we found it to be relaxing!
