Cake Platter and Cloche

Making things is my passion. I wanted a decor piece that looked vintage and could hold a bird scene. I saw a couple of items at the Dollar Store that I thought would be perfect for this. Let’s see what you think!

The items you’ll need:

black hanging basket

candle stick

clear glass plate

any knob

4” wooden round circle (I purchased this at Joanna’s)

screw driver

hot glue gun and sticks

dark wax

spray paint oil rubbed bronze

2 electrical wire fasteners

Begin by painting all the pieces in oil rubbed bronze. Paint the candle stick, plate and round wood disk.

Next, apply the Vaseline on edges and random spots to make it look aged.

Then apply the white paint over all the oiled surfaces. When that dries, remove all the oil with a napkin.

You will be left with the spots where the oil was. Then grab the dark wax and wipe it all over the surfaces.

Like this.

Next, apply the E6000 to the candle stick.

Center it at the bottom of the plate.

Next, grab the wood piece and the basket.

And apply that with the two electrical wire fasteners.

Glue the knob to the center of the wood circle.

The plate attached to the candle stick should look like this.

This is the basket with the wood disk and knob.

Here it is all finished.

I think it looks great! See the full video right here:
