Can I put Baking Soda on the plant?

Just sprinkle a small amount baking soda (less than 1/4 cup per plant) on the soil around your tomato plants being careful not to get the soda on the plant itself. (you can also use 1 tsp in a gallon of water and water the plants that way!) The baking soda absorbs into the soil and lowers the acidity levels.

Tomatoes grow best in a soil that is slightly acidic a pH of 6-7 ( 7 is neutral). That being said, the first thing to do is test your soil with a easy pH test you can perform with common ingredients listed in this reference-step 1 and you can adjust your soil's pH if needed:

It goes on the soil, not on the plant! for the PH!

Yup, for years I have used Epsom Salt around my tomatoes and other plants, the magnesium sulfate is a valuable nutrient to many plants. You can spray ot on as Betsy suggests or sprinkle it around your plants on the soil. Be careful to not get it on your plants full strength, it will burn them.
