How would I use these ?
I have some beautiful butterflies that I would like to cut out and place on furniture which will be painted with chalk paint.
Does anyone know what I need to use to stick these on and whether I need to varnish the piece of furniture afterwards. I’m trying to get it to look like the floor picture below

What a neat idea! Gorgeous inspiration! I think you would chalk paint the furniture first and then you could decoupage the cut out butterflies after it dries. :)
Decoupage the butterflies with Mod Podge after you paint the furniture. Then a coat of Mod Podge over the butterflies to seal them
You can do this decoupage the of treatment you're talking about using Mod Podge. I've done it on several pieces of furniture and it's quite easy. The Mod Podge works for both the glue and the sealant on top. One tip is to lightly spritz the paper cutout with water before you spread on the Mod Podge. This will help it not bubble as it dries. Here is one of the projects I did... A table with sea creatures on it.
Paint the furniture, let dry thoroughly. Mod Podge the butterflies on. Very lightly spray the butterflies with water (paper tends to bubble and this will prevent it) seal with Mod Podge. Love the placement of butterflies on that dresser!
Gorgeous project. I agree Modge podge is probably the easiest application method using a foam brush to apply to the back of the butterfly. I would recommend sealing the surface afterwards.
If it were my project I would use a poly acrylic sealer. You can choose from a flat semi gloss or gloss finish depending upon your aesthetic. If you have any extra butterflies a shadowbox with the wings bend it upwards in a 3-D effect might be attractive too....
Chalk paint the furniture piece and then in a day or so decoupage the beautiful butterflies where they look great with ModPogde. Have fun. Great idea!
Thank you all for your comments. I’m definitely going to have a go at this and I’ll post a picture when I’m finished
