I have a very nice hammock sling made of large rope and would like to hang it on my wall in a decorative way. Any suggestions

  • You could probably cut it away from one end and finish off the edges. The bar at the other end could be used for hanging.

Oh that sounds like it would be a cool project Gerry! I would look at the section of the hammock that you like the most and cut that section out. You will have to figure out how to tie off the ends of it. Or you could use fabric glue or singe it so no unraveling will happen. Then you will want to figure out how to hang it. You could probably use gorilla hooks into the wall. Or tie the top around a dowel and hang that. Good luck! Love your idea!

I would bet you could use Command hooks placed strategically to make a decorative wall hanging.

Thanks ladies, good suggestions. Should I decorate it in any way or just leave it plain?

I would think a throw pillow (the more rustic the better) would look good. You could even bring your accent color in by using that in the pillow on your hammock. Just a color that would catch your eye put keep it somewhat natural. A colored burlap pillow would look good. Or if you want to go crazy a stuffed animal (for me it is Garfield) could work depending on what you choose.

Once you get it up and hung it would be fun to add clothes pins so you can easily switch out and hang photos and other things to it!

  • Having it swag across a thick stick or pole would be a large statement piece.

    Hello Gerry,

If it has a hanging fringe like decor either side of the bed section, you could hang it on the wall across a room like a Valance Pelmet or vertically fixing at either side of the bed section, so the drapes cascade down. You could also drape it to one side like a curtain. Best wishes...............

You could hang it as a decor and attach star fish, drift wood, sea horses, and shells of various sizes and colors. It would be a statement piece in a room w/ an Under the Sea theme.
