I have seen tons of the cute dotted accent walls on Pinterest and I knew that Target carried dotted wallpaper but I thought I could get the same look by doing it myself with a sharpie pen!

I wanted to give my bathroom a fun makeover so I went for it.

Before pic

Here is the before picture. I painted the wall white first and then went to work on starting the dot making process.

Completed look

The completed look - it’s a fun space now and it’s so happy now!

Sharpie paint pen

I used a water based sharpie pen to make the dots. I used a bold one to make the outlines and went back to fill them in with a super bold Sharpie. I used three in total for this project.

This isn’t necessary but I wanted to get a feel for the size of the dots so I found a image of dots and put it on the projector and traced some of them on the wall in this area. I only used it for this one spot and just eyeballed the rest on the wall.

Once I added dots to the entire wall I went back in and filled them all in

Close up

Close up - now I didn’t fill them in precisely because I wanted a true organic dot look and I don’t have that kind of patience either!

Another close up of after
